SPREEUWENSUITE (Starling-Suite)
Piano - Solo:
The Starling- Suite is a five-part work for piano solo.
Who doesn't know the starling? This noisy good-for-nothing, who, like a jolly vagabond,
flutters through fields and cities.
The starling lives part of the year in a big flock, this is the imaginary spot where our
music starts: A big starling-flock, two sparrows come out of the flock, build a nest,
breed their eggs and raise their young. Finally the young birds fligh out, and form
another swarm.
The starling was the favorite bird of the Dutch naturalist Jac. P. Thijsse,
therefore I dedicated this suite to the Heimans and Thijsse Association. (Dutch site)
In September this suite did get its first performance by the presentation of the
bronze starling, a Dutch prize for people who inspire the people to take care
for nature, or to take interest in nature. More information about this can be

OOIEVAARSVLUCHT (Flight of the Stark)
Piano - Four Hands:
In 'The Flight of the Stark' we follow the way the Stark had to go to bring the
little boy Hugo to his father and his mother in Amsterdam. Hugo learns to know
the beauty of the world, the Stark points him out Antarctica, the monkeys in
the woods, the desert, the sea, and finally Holland.
This music for four hands piano is technically not difficult to play.

ELFSTEDENKOORTS (Eleven Cities Fever)
When the Eleven Cities Tour finds place, (a big outdoor skating race) everyone in the
Netherlands suffers from the Eleven Cities Fever. It sure is one of the merriest
sicknesses one can get.
I dedicated this piece for piano solo to "De Friesche Elf Steden" (the Frisian Eleven
Cities Association).
The music of the Eleven Cities Fever is very easy on the ear and not difficult to play.
A cheerful melody, also suitable for less-virtuose piano players.

Brass ensemble
GREEN, GREEN MIDDEN-DELFLAND
and
FESTIVAL IN 'T WOUDT
The 11th of November the Dutch Queen Beatrix visited the old and very small church
in 't Woudt. (in the province Zuid-Holland) In the church she listened to music, played
by twelve members of three different brass-bands.
To my happy surprise they had asked me to write the music for this event.
I composed two musical pieces for an ensemble consisting of:
2 flutes, 1 clarinet, 1 soprano saxophone, 1 alto saxophone, 2 horns,
1 trumpet, 1 trombone, 1 b-flat tuba, 1 snare drum, marching bells
and 1 tambourine.

Carillon
CAMPANULA
A lenghty four-part piece, only suitable for an equally tempered carillon.
In the second and the fourth part one can recognise three songs composed by
Wim ter Burg with lyrics by Hanna Lam.
The Dutch children-songs concerned are: "Jericho", "Jona", and
"In het begin lag de aarde verloren".
Moderately difficult.
